The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) services bound to the eastern provinces were temporarily halted after a cargo train derailed in this central region province, blocking the eastern line railway.
The four carriages of the train, carrying sugar to Laem Chabang port in Chonburi province derailed, blocking the passge of other trains for hours.
About 60 scheduled train runs to Sa Kaeo and Chonburi provinces were suspended. Stranded passengers were diverted to passenger pick-up truck (songtao) shuttle services provided by the SRT.
An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the derailment.
